VICTORIAN nurses, midwives and nursing/midwifery students have access to TWO health support services.
NURSING AND MIDWIFERY HEALTH PROGRAM VICTORIA (NMHPV)
The NMHPV has always been available to Victorian nurses, midwives and nursing/midwifery students since 2006, and we are delighted the Victorian State Government has shown its continued support for the Program by committing ongoing funds. This enables the NMHPV to continue to provide individually tailored and compassionate assistance to colleagues and to also facilitate our fortnightly peer support groups.
The NMHPV also continues to offer advice and assistance to managers and HR personnel in relation to supporting their nurses and midwives who are experiencing sensitive health issues related to their mental health or substance use.
Everyone at the NMHPV is delighted to be continuing as the only discipline specific, case management support service of its kind in Australia.

NURSE AND MIDWIFE SUPPORT (NM SUPPORT)
A more recent development is Nurse and Midwife Support. This is a national program the NMHPV is working in partnership with Turning Point to deliver Australia-wide. This telehealth service offers confidential advice and referral for all nurses, midwives and nursing/midwifery students. The service also offers support to educators, employers and concerned family members.
Callers have 24/7 telephone access to an experienced team, which includes nurses and midwives, who can provide advice and referral on a wide range of health and wellbeing related issues. The program also includes a website that provides information, useful resources for seeking help and email support.

NM Support complements the work of the NMHPV in assisting VICTORIAN nurses, midwives, students and stakeholders to access relevant services and care options.
