The Nursing and Midwifery Health Program Victoria has won a TheMHS Award in the 2018 Mental Health Service Awards of Australia and New Zealand program for service to mental health.

NMHPV won the Award in the ‘Assessment and/or Treatment Program or Service’ category which was given in recognition of the achievement of excellence, innovation and best practice in mental health services.

The Award was announced on 29th August at the Annual TheMHS Conference held this year in Adelaide, South Australia. It was presented to Mr Glenn Taylor by Ms Nicolle Flint MP, Member for Boothby representing The Hon Greg Hunt MP, Federal Minister for Health.

The NMHPV is a free, confidential and independent support service for Victorian nurses, midwives and students of nursing and midwifery experiencing health issues related to their mental health, substance use and family violence concerns. It is funded by the Victorian state government and has been operating since 2006, leading the way in the promotion of its colleague’s health and wellbeing throughout Australia in this time.

The Mental Health Service Awards of Australia and New Zealand are presented every year by TheMHS Learning Network to recognise and encourage best practice, excellence and innovation in mental health service delivery. The Awards have been made annually since 1992.

TheMHS Conference is the largest mental health and addiction services conference in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific. TheMHS aims to promote positive attitudes about mental health and mental illness, and to stimulate debate that challenges the boundaries of knowledge and ideas about mental health care.
